Creowave repeaters chosen by the State Security Networks Ltd.

15. May 2009

Creowave repeater type is approved and acquired by State Security Networks Ltd. The following news has been released in Finnish at the State Security Networks Ltd. websites:

A repeater for improving the indoor coverage at VIRVE network.

Issues involving indoor coverage have been lifted up in the VIRVE project. State Security Networks Ltd. wishes, that already during the planning permission, repeater systems for the indoor coverage would be taken into consideration.

VIRVE indoor solution can be done in several ways, the solution is always case-specific. Usually the main element is a repeater that is being interfaced with the property's antenna network. The repeater can also be interfaced with leaky cable or the combination of both antenna network and leaky cable.

If the VIRVE indoor solution is done with the repeater you need a separate radio license. The Finnish State Security Networks Ltd. is applying for frequency permission for the repeater from Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority with frequency permission application form. The radio license fee is included in the final inspection fee that must be paid to State Security Networks Ltd. before the implementation of the equipment.

Because the repeater is the active element of the network, it should be a type that is approved and acquired by State Security Networks Ltd. For this purpose State Security Networks Ltd. has chosen Creowave Oy repeaters. These repeaters are TETRA standard repeaters, which is essential, for the repeater is an active element of the network.

There are various systems that have been developed to improve the coverage of the equipment and with these systems the functionality of VIRVE network can be guaranteed also in demanding environments. Despite the extensive coverage of base stations there are still blind spots and also underground spaces and some steel and concrete buildings are problematical when it comes to indoor coverage.

The owner of the property is accountable for the expenses of planning and building the indoor coverage.
